Arsenal are set to make a ‘big announcement’ very soon which we are led to believe will be details on a new, dedicated stadium for the men’s u21 side as well as the women’s team.

Similar to the stadium that Manchester City recently opened, the idea will be to give the reserves and women their own home rather than having to play at Boreham Wood.

Speaking at a recent event at which our reporter was present, Kelly Smith spoke about a conversation she had recently with Ivan Gazidis regarding the allocation of additional funds to the women’s side to enable to them to compete with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool who are all full-time professionals.

She was also the one to say that a ‘big announcement’ would be ‘coming soon’.

While there are no details on where this stadium would be located, with space close to the Emirates at a premium, it is unlikely that it will be situated as close to Arsenal’s main ground as City’s is to theirs.

More info on the event Smith was speaking at can be found here.
