Andre Marriner, the official best known for sending off Kieran Gibbs instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a hand ball against Chelsea in 2014, has been appointed referee for the north London derby on Wednesday.

Our first match in the Capital One Cup takes place at sh-White Hart Lane and, after an eventful game against Chelsea on Saturday, we could be in for another surreal display.

However, despite sending off the wrong man for us a while ago, Marriner doesn’t have a terrible record for us. We last had him as referee in our 1-0 win against Newcastle away when he sent off Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 16th minute, so he’s not afraid to make a big decision in front of a rowdy home crowd.

After falling victim to horrific refereeing when we played Chelsea, everyone will have their eyes on Marriner who can’t afford to put a foot wrong.

But hey, look at it this way: at least he’s not Mike Dean.
