Riyad Mahrez’s agent has confirmed that the forward is happy at Leicester City and is not thinking of leaving.

Recent reports suggested that the 24-year-old could be up for a move to north London in January but Mahrez’s agent, Kamel Bengougam, has made it clear that the player has no intention of leaving his current club.

“Riyad is very happy at Leicester and he just signed a new contract at the club last month,” Bengougam said.

“Riyad is not thinking about the rumours and is focused on his season with Leicester and wants to continue his fine form.”

Mahrez has quickly become a regular feature for Leicester, who currently sit all the way up in second in the Premier League table, appearing 56 times since joining in January ’14. In those appearances he’s scored 11 goals and assisted 10.

The chances of Leicester wanting to let him leave are slim but I’m sure the right money could definitely turn their heads. As he has just signed a new contract, they’d be well within their rights to ask for top dollar.

However, if the player is happy at the club and Leicester don’t want to let him go, chasing him would be a fruitless task and we’d do better with our time looking elsewhere.
