Adrian Clarke reckons Theo Walcott is one of the best right wingers around and that’s his most dangerous position.
The debate about whether Walcott should be moved into a more central role and developed into a striker has been going on for a while now and this is probably because the player himself is so persistent about playing there.
However, if you ask most Arsenal fans, the majority recognise that as much as we’d love him to be an incredible striker, he’s just too good on the wing and not effective enough up front – at least not consistently.
What broadcaster Clarke has pointed out is just how deadly the pacey winger can be when played on the right, where he was playing for England during their 6-0 win over San Marino in which he scored a brace. In a indirect way, it’s also saying, Theo, you’re not that great up front, stick to what you’re good at.
No right winger I know is more of a goal threat than Walcott. It’s his best position – no doubt. Makes unstoppable runs from there.
