Arsene Wenger has spoken to the press after his side’s narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James’s Park.

Of course, in a match that was filled with action and incident, from red cards to penalty claims, a deflected goal and loads of other talking points, the journalists wanted to know if he will be signing someone before the window slams shut on Monday.

“We are open and we are in the transfer market, the boss said. If we find an exceptional player in any sector, we will do it. At the moment I don’t know if something will happen or not.”

In the wake of Arsenal’s continued difficulty in finding the back of the net (it’s almost as if people forget that they actually did score against Liverpool only for the referee to rule it ourt incorrectly and things would seem much different had it stood) there were cries all over social media from fans and pundits alike for Arsenal to ‘buy, buy. buy!’

But it’s not that simple.

Sure, the Gunners are finding it tough in front of goal but this is a side that depends on goals coming from all areas of the pitch.

I’m not for one minute saying that a world class striker wouldn’t help with that but wanting one and actually being able to sign one, when there are only a couple out there who might, possibly be available, are two very different things.
