Reports emerging this weekend are claiming that Tottenham could be set to move for Alex Song should Southampton refuse to sell Victor Wanyama.

The former Arsenal midfielder seems to have a love for London but despite spending last season on loan with West Ham he was unable to come to a permanent agreement with the Hammers with his wage demands said to be the main stumbling block.

Returning to Barcelona where he is clearly not wanted, he has just a few days to find a new home but with Spurs targeting Wanyama, and the Kenyan reportedly being left out of Southampton’s squad for their game against Norwich on Sunday as he tries to force through a move, Song could find himself out of luck or, more importantly, out of London clubs who would be able to pay the stupid money he wants.

While it’s perhaps understandable that he felt he couldn’t turn Barcelona down, like many who have trod the same path before him, you’d be pretty sure he now wishes he’d never left Arsenal.

Should he turn up at Spurs he will be left in no doubt about the stupidity of his decision to leave N5.

As for Wanyama, he’s also been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over recent seasons but it is clear the Gunners aren’t actually interested in bringing in a DM.
