In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spoke about his affinity with the Arsenal fans and how he’s just as excited as us to get the new season underway.

The Ox has had a turbulent time at Arsenal. Since we signed him from Southampton in 2011, he’s spent a good portion of it injured. In fact, the midfielder is yet to get a full season with us under his belt.

However, he hasn’t let that dampen his excitement for the new season.

“You know, I’m like any fan, waiting for the season to begin,” he said. “Just seeing the build-up, watching again the celebrations from goals in previous years. As a player you really do share that sense of excitement that the fans have. Not just for your team but just to get it all going with the vibrancy and atmosphere it brings.”

After a solid pre-season, which saw him score against Lyon in the Emirates Cup and, more importantly, Chelsea to win us the Community Shield, the 21-year-old’s luck definitely seems to be on the up.

After only scoring three times for us last season, he’s bound to be targeting a higher goal tally in the next and after his performance against the Blues, it’s no wonder the youngster is in high spirits and if he can remain fit, he could have the season of his career.
