According to reports, which appear to have emanated from Foot365, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot is interested in a move to Arsenal.
The 20 year-old’s agent (also his mother!) has been agitating for a move away from the French capital for quite some time, with first-team opportunities hard to come by with the Ligue 1 champions. Now she is reportedly touting him to a number of Premier League clubs, including the Gunners, in the hope that someone will make PSG an offer.
Rabiot was handed the opportunity to start in the first game of the season last week but saw himself sent off in the first half before PSG went on to beat Lille by a single goal. The foul was a terrible one and won’t help his case as his agent seeks to drum up interest in the France U21 midfielder.
Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder and have also been linked with Thiago Motta, but PSG are insisting they will not sell the Italian despite his wishes to leave.
If Motta does remain Rabiot will only seek a move more urgently, as he faces a lot of competition to prove himself at the club.
Rabiot has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal’s north London rivals Spurs, but nothing has come of the rumours. He is currently playing for PSG as well as being keen on a switch to Arsenal – I doubt he is so desperate for regular first-team football that he’ll end up in N17.
Rabiot has a contract until 2019 and PSG aren’t looking to get rid of him, so a transfer in this window would come as a huge shock. Stranger things have happened, but this move is far from likely.
