Michael Oliver is the appointed referee for our match against Liverpool on Monday.

Although there are certainly worse referees out there, Liverpool’s record with Oliver officiating is slightly better than our’s, which is bound to fill most Gooners with dread. However, when you break down the stats, it doesn’t actually look too bad.

We’ve won seven times when Oliver has officiated our matches, whereas Liverpool have won nine. However, he’s only been in charge of 16 or our’s, compared to 19 of the Merseyside team’s.

In terms of cards, we’ve received 27 yellows and had 40 dished out to our various opponents, and Liverpool have received 29, with their opponents picking 31.

When it comes to red cards, we’ve never received one from Oliver, and neither have Liverpool.

As far as penalties go, we’ve only received one and Liverpool have been given two. Both teams have had three given against them.

Therefore, in the grand scheme of things, there’s not too much to be worried about and it’s unlikely that Liverpool will be allowed to kick us about the pitch.
