Emanuele Giulianelli, the football writer who was completely convinced that Karim Benzema was heading to Arsenal, has had to do a bit of backtracking and is now claiming we also had a bid for Mauro Icardi turned down by Inter Milan.

The journalist, who seems to like to think he’s In The Know claims that, after the Benzema deal fell through, we turned our attention to Inter Milan striker, Icardi, but had our offer rejected.

Icardi scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for the Serie A team, which is a huge amount and apparently talks are ongoing. However, judging by Giulianelli’s reliability so far, I doubt we were ever interested.
