With the transfer window deadline closing in, people everywhere are wondering if Arsene Wenger will bring any more players to the club.
With only Petr Cech signed so far (in regards to players for the first team this season), there are still calls for him to dip into the market to buy a striker and a defensive midfielder but as the 31st August looms ever closer it seems more and more unlikely that we will see any further additions.
Speaking to the Sun in his column, Thierry Henry tried to explain what he thinks is going on. “It is the boss’ prerogative that he believes these current players are good enough to win the title.
“I’m sure he would have liked to sign at least one more player. Maybe another central midfielder and a striker.
“Sometimes, the players you need will not come for various reasons and maybe this has been the case.
“Also, there are still a few days left of the transfer window for something to happen at Arsenal.”
Quite where he would put another central midfielder is anyone’s guess.
It seems unlikely that Wenger will bring in either a forward or a defensive midfielder at this point. He’s had years to buy a DM and has yet to do so while the only strikers available at present are ridiculously overpriced.
But, as we saw two summers ago with Mesut Ozil, things can change rapidly in the last few days so you never know.
