Last weekend saw Petr Čech have a Premier League debut to forget for Arsenal, and the Gunners may yet turn to loanee Wojciech Szczesny if things don’t work out with Čech in the future.

Szczesny, though, is spending the season with AS Roma and we are a long long way from him usurping Čech in London.

Elsewhere in London on Saturday afternoon, Arsenal may have accidentally stumbled across an alternative.

West Ham United, who beat the Gunners last weekend, had goalkeeper Adrian sent off in the dying stages of their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City and our very own Carl Jenkinson ended up between the posts.

Jenkinson didn’t start last weekend due to a rule preventing loan players from featuring against their parent clubs, so his season hasn’t got off to a good start on a personal level. He did, however, manage to keep a clean sheet for the very brief spell he was in goal.

The right-back will be hoping to build on a successful stay at Upton Park last season. With Mathieu Debuchy now second choice and 30 years of age, Jenkinson may have a shot of returning to battle with Héctor Bellerín for the right-back spot at Emirates Stadium next season.
