Arsenal are apparently looking to sign Monaco centre-back Aymen Abdennour.

According to reports, we’re willing to spend £11.5m on the 26-year-old, despite Wenger confirming a while ago that he wasn’t going to sign any defenders during this window.

The Tunisian only featured 26 times for the Ligue 1 side due to a couple of injuries. Therefore, it’s hard to see why Wenger would want to sign him.

It’s far more likely that the media saw our less-than-capable defensive performance against Liverpool in the Premier League, and are jumping on the bandwagon, pandering to Arsenal fans’ anxiety.

However, stranger transfers have happened.
