Once again, Arsenal have been tipped to sign Roma defender, Alessio Romagnoli.
After fighting off fierce competition in the form of AC Milan and Premier League rivals, Chelsea, we’re reportedly the most likely to get the 20-year-old’s signature.
Despite Wenger insisting he won’t be signing any defenders during this transfer window, we’re supposedly willing to cough up over £24m for the Italian, who featured 31 times for the Serie A team last season, as well as six times for the Italy u21s.
According to the Metro, however, Romagnoli has previously stated that he wants to remain in Italy, making the move seem even more unlikely.
I have no doubt that there is nothing behind this rumour. We don’t want a centre-back, let alone a young centre-back who doesn’t want to travel to a new country. Instead, if he is moving, it’s far more likely he’ll be heading to fellow Serie A team, AC Milan.
