Arsenal are being linked with Russian international striker Aleksandr Kokorin, but rumours seem wide of the mark.

An agent who claims to work closely with Arsène Wenger has confirmed as much, telling the Russian media that there hasn’t been any mention of the player.

Sandor Varga, the agent in question, spoke to Gazeta (per Sport Witness) and said he speaks to Wenger whenever the Arsenal manager is interested in players from Russia or Ukraine. Kokorin is currently playing for Dynamo Moscow as well as Russia, and said that the player has never come up in conversations.

The agent did confirm that Wenger has spoken to him about Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko of Dynamo Kyiv, but that there is no interest or imminent bid this summer, going against reports from Spanish paper Sport last week.

Arsenal have been linked with countless forwards during the summer, most notably Karim Benzema. After adding Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez in the last two summer windows Arsenal are unlikely to add a player unless he is of similar quality – anything else won’t be considered an upgrade on what the club already has available.

As a result, it looks like the last week or so of the transfer window will most probably be a source of frustration for Arsenal fans.
