Speaking ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy, Aaron Ramsey told SkySports that Arsenal can win the league this season.
Arsenal beat Everton on Saturday to lift the Barclays Asia Trophy but Ramsey wants more, including the Premier League title in the coming season.
That is the aim within the squad, and there’s no reason the Gunners can’t do it. Keeping players like Ramsey will be key but the team have shown what they are capable of and the Welshman believes Arsenal can go closer next season.
“We’ve won the FA Cup and now you can see the hunger to go on to win the league and other things as well,” Ramsey said.
Last season saw Arsenal pick up results consistently at the turn of the year – no Premier League team won more points in 2015 – but the new season has to start better.
“We’ll be trying our hardest to start the season well that’s key to going on and winning it.
“We’ve shown what we’re capable of doing at the back end of the season so we know we have the players ant the team to get results on a consistent basis and hopefully we can show that throughout the season.”
The midfielder also spoke about new signing Petr Čech and wanting to play in a more central role, as he did against Everton on Saturday. The midfielder spent the closing stages of last season on the right wing but wants to be moved back into the middle for the new campaign.
