The summer break has seen a number of polls held on Arsenal.com to vote for our best Premier League goal in various categories.
Thierry Henry’s striker against West Ham in 2002 won the best long range goal, while Jack Wilshere’s goal of the 2013/14 season against Norwich was crowned as our finest team goal. Henry also claimed the best header, with his 2007 winner against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium.
Finally another Arsenal great has collected recognition, with Dennis Bergkamp awarded with the best solo goal. Bergkamp played a pass from within our own half before racing onward for the return ball into the box. His incredible turn left Newcastle United defender Nikos Dabizas confused, along with pretty much everyone else who was watching.
Thierry Henry finished second and is somewhat unfortunate not to have won, considering the incredible nature of his 70-yard dribble and weak foot finish in a north London derby against Spurs in the 2002/03 season.
Even still, it is hard to argue with the winner. That Bergkamp goal deserves al the praise it receives.
