Arsenal are being linked with Turkish midfielder Mehmet Topal, as Eurosport TR report that a mystery English club has bid for the Fenerbahce player.

According to them, a bid of €7M has been submitted by a London-based club, who is also being linked with London sides Chelsea and Tottenham. Other reports have linked Liverpool and Everton with the midfielder, who only has one year to run on his contract.

Maybe the rumours come from his agent as he seeks to negotiate a new deal for the player, but as a holding midfielder he would suit Arsenal’s needs.

Eurosport also claim that former club Valencia are interested the 29 year-old midfielder, who has won 49 caps for Turkey.

Arsenal have had Mikel Arteta extend his contract but considering concerns over his fitness it is still thought that the club could do with a holding midfielder, with Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Flamini the other options at the club.

Realistically speaking we are a Coquelin red card away from needed Flamini for three consecutive games, a daunting thought for any Arsenal fan. If fellow English clubs are really in for Topal – and he is available for as little as £5M – it could be a good deal to do.
