Jon Toral has joined Birmingham on a season long loan and the midfielder has already given an interview to their official YouTube channel explaining how the loan came about and why he decided to join them.

Spending last season with Brentford, Toral impressed and after overcoming the genetic knee problems that plagued him for so long and required numerous operations to sort, the Spaniard is looking to make up for lost time.

Injury-free for well over a year, Toral will be hoping that he can make even more of an impression on the Arsenal boss than he has already.

Arriving at the club from Barcelona with Hector Bellerin, Wenger decided to take up the option in Toral’s contract to extend it after it was due to expire this summer.

“I’m very happy that we could make this move with Arsenal and Birmingham coming to an agreement,” Toral told Birmingham City TV. “I’m just very happy and I hope to enjoy my football over here.

“I was looking for somewhere to go out on loan to gain some more experience and I got a call from Dick Law who works for Arsenal Football Club and he told me that he spoke to the manager at Birmingham and saying that he was interested for me to come over and play for Birmingham I thought about it for a few days I thought it was the best option and I’m very happy we could make it

“I spoke to him [Birmingham’s manger] two days ago to explain everything and telling me how big the club is and the expectations of the season and I can’t wait to start.”
