Despite interest from numerous Premier League clubs, it looks as if Carl Jenkinson will remain an Arsenal player next season.
According to the Daily Mail, the right-back is rumoured to be going back on loan to West Ham United, where he spent last season, but is set to sign a new contract with the Gunners, which will see his weekly wages raised to £35,000.
Although it was predictable that the 23-year-old would go back out on loan to West Ham, there was talk of him going to Sunderland for £2m – a substantial amount considering we bought him for less and they only wanted him on loan.
However, Southampton have now apparently entered the mix and also want the Englishman at St. Mary’s next season.
Honestly, I don’t see a huge plot twist happening with Jenko. He seemed happy enough at the Hammers last season, played in 36 games and it’s not too far away from home.
