Morgan Schneiderlin has undergone a medical at Manchester United and with that, I think we can probably count ourselves out of the running to sign him.

The defensive midfielder was first rumoured to be signing for Arsenal in what feels like the Dark Ages but in May, it became clear that the Southampton man could legitimately be on his way to the Emirates. However, ever the party-poopers, Man United came in with a higher offer than we were willing to pay.

On July 7th, we reported on the quotes coming out of the Saint’s camp from the manager, Ronald Koeman, saying that the Red Devils had indeed made a bid for Schneiderlin and subsequently had it rejected. At this stage, it was pretty clear where the midfielder was off to, despite claims that he wanted to sign for Arsenal. It was only a matter of time before the Manchester team came back with a higher offer and landed his signature.

It now been confirmed that the Frenchman has indeed completed his medical in Manchester ahead of a move rumoured to be upwards of £25m.

I think we can therefore finally rule ourselves out of this one, draw a line underneath it and move on.
