Serie A team Roma have reportedly inquired about taking Wojciech Szczesny on a season-long loan.
After we bought Petr Cech from Chelsea, it became clear than neither David Ospina or Wojciech Szczesny would be playing for the first team regularly next season.
Although there have been rumours that Ospina could be off to Fenerbahce, he’s still at the club.
On Monday, stories that Ajax want Szczesny started doing the rounds and now it appears Roma are interested in taking the Pole on a season-long loan.
The Serie A team are reportedly willing to pay up to €500k in loan fees, with an option to buy for €5m.
However, I don’t see Arsene Wenger letting go of Szczesny so easily, even if it is only for a loan move. We still need a back-up keeper and I truly believe the 25-year-old has a bright future at the club. Although last season he only featured 29 times due to being dropped in favour of Ospina, the season before that he played 46 times and was a consistent name on the team sheet.
If we’re going to loan out or sell a goalkeeper, it’s far more likely to be Ospina, or even young Damian Martinez.
