With an increasing amount of reports that Nacho Monreal is on his way to La Liga, it might be time to say goodbye to our left-back.

There’s been the odd rumour circulating that Monreal could be on his way out of the club but now reports are emerging that we have accepted a bid from Athletic Bilbao. Although there’s been no official confirmation and talk are apparently ongoing, the news isn’t exactly brand new, with talks of us lining up a replacement doing the rounds for a while.

The deal is worth a reported £7m and it’ll be a shame if the defender has chosen to leave after having one of the best seasons of his career with us. He was only with us since January 2013 and featured heavily last season, appearing 39 times, most of which came after Kieran Gibbs picked up an injury. He even played in our FA Cup winning match and saw us life the cup twice.

If he is leaving, as much as I wish him well, it seems a little bit odd that he’d want to leave on such a high.
