The Southampton boss has revealed that he wants the Morgan Schneiderlin deal to either Arsenal or Manchester United completed sooner rather than later – for the good of the player, apparently.

The midfielder, who looked almost certain to be signing for us earlier in the summer, has been linked heavily with a move to Manchester United recently despite reports saying that the player would rather move to Arsenal.

Speaking recently, Ronald Koeman confirmed that Man United have made a bid the for 25-year-old, but it was unsuccessful.

“A lot of speculation, but two weeks ago we had a bid from Manchester United,” Koeman said. “It wasn’t enough, it wasn’t serious, and [there have been] no more bids till today [Monday].”

He continued, “I’ve had a lot of meetings with Morgan. I had a meeting last week, everybody knows his situation. But it’s important for the player to do a good pre-season. And we will see what happens in the next few days.” Adding, “I don’t talk about money, about numbers, it’s not my business, it’s up to the club.”

He also mentioned, “Everybody knows the situation of Morgan. I understand the player – if he can get a big move to a big [club], I can understand it.”

If the Red Devils have already made a bid and had it rejected, the chances are that they’ll come back with an improved one sometime soon. Whether it’ll be accepted or not is unclear but if the manager wants the deal closed soon, surely it’ll only be a matter of time.

No one seems too sure whether Arsenal’s interest is still there but if it is, I reckon we only have a short window in which to make a move.
