Calum Chambers has been reportedly offered back to his former club Southampton on a season long loan.

The right-back, who has only been with us a year, is apparently being offered back to the Saints to gain experience after failing to properly break into our first team. However, this is more likely down to injury troubles and a bout of illness, which allowedHector Bellerin to step into his place, rather than actual lack of capability.

The 20-year-old appeared 36 times for us last season and will looking to get back into the starting 11 consistently soon.

My opinion is that this loan move is extremely unlikely to happen. He’s only been with us one season and Arsene Wenger would not have bought him for £16m without being aware of his ability. He’s a good squad player and loaning him out, especially if we don’t replace him, seems incredibly foolish.

I don’t see it happening.
