Nicklas Bendtner received a warm welcome upon his return to the Emirates during Wolfsburg’s match against Villarreal in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.

Before the match, both Arsene Wenger and Bendtner had their say on the striker’s return and although many fans had mixed emotions about Bendtner while he played for us, it seemed no one held onto any hard feelings when he stepped out onto the pitch.

In fact, he received a standing ovation.

Before the match, the 27-year-old said via his Instagram that he was excited to play at the Emirates again and expressed just how much the club meant to him.

Arsene Wenger also said, “He will certainly prepare well to show we made a mistake letting him go there.”

He continued, “He has the talent. He’s honest and he knows that he made some mistakes. I hope that now he can be successful in the second part of his career.”

Although Bendtner’s team lost 2-1 to Villarreal and the Dane only played a third of the match, which wasn’t exactly showing us what we’re missing, he did receive a standing ovation from the Arsenal fans.
