If Arsenal are going to sign a striker this summer they are clearly going to go big.
The rumours are predominantly linking Arsène Wenger with a move for Karim Benzema but it has been widely though that the Arsenal boss is happy with his options up front. The Real Madrid number nine would be seen as a big upgrade but if he that is not on option Wenger wouldn’t have any issue heading into the season with his current squad.
Olivier Giroud enjoyed his best season at Arsenal last year and Theo Walcott ended the season in superb form. Then there is still Alexis Sánchez and Danny Welbeck who, like Walcott, are options out wide as well as through the middle. A striker isn’t a necessity.
Now El Confidencial journalist Kike Marin is making the incredible claim that Wenger will target Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski if Real Madrid are unwilling to sell Benzema this summer.

I mean, really? That seems a wild claim to make. Lewandowski has been at Bayern for just one season but agent Cezary Kucharski recently refused to rule out a move this summer, instead saying that he it would almost certainly cost €50M (£35M) to prise the Polish striker from the Bundesliga champions.
Lewandowski is Bayern’s only recognised striker and a deal seems beyond unlikely but one thing is for sure: if Wenger is to sign a striker this summer, the Arsenal manager is going to go big.
