According to reports coming out of Italy, Gonzalo Higuain wants to leave Napoli and we’re about to bid through the roof to acquire his services.

It’s not often that a transfer window goes past without Arsenal being linked to the Napoli man and this one is no different. We were linked with him back in June and now the whispers that we’re readying a bid are getting a little louder.

Apparently, the 27-year-old wants away from the Serie A side and we’re one of the main clubs reported to be after his signature.

Here’s the thing though, we’re supposedly lining up a £43m bid (despite his buy-out clause being over £67m). That’s right: more than we paid for Mesut Ozil, one of the best playmakers in the world. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how improbable this is. There’s no way Arsene Wenger would pay that for a striker who isn’t even necessarily better than who we have.

I definitely wouldn’t hold your breath on this one.
