Apparently we’re poised to sign another young playmaker to our ranks.

Egyptian Ramadan Sobhy currently plays for Al Ahly and according to reports, was offered a trial with us back in the winter.

Roma are also supposedly one of the other teams interested in the kid.

Usually, I’d say a young playmaker would be pretty much a dead-cert’ for us to sign but, although the 18-year-old scored seven, he only assisted one goal in 28 appearances last season. For an attacking midfielder being called the ‘best young player in Africa‘, that doesn’t sound fantastic.

In addition, with claims that’s he’s also the ‘future legend of Egyptian football’ being thrown around, this all sounds like agent-talk. However, as I mentioned before, we all know Arsene Wenger’s love for an attacking midfielder and if he’s seen potential, I wouldn’t rule out signing the youngster at all – especially as he was already offered a trial. Agent-talk doesn’t have to mean the deal won’t go ahead, it could just be him trying to get a better offer for his client and himself.
