Whey-hey – the Arsenal first team are back in training and on Tuesday they were joined by a few members of the reserve team.

Among the youngsters joining our senior team was Chuba Akpom, who featured nine times for the first team last season, and talented German (/American) Gedion Zelalem.

Senior players from the first team who were absent from the session included Alexis Sanchez, who only won the Copa America tournament with Chile on Saturday and needs a bit of a break; Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla and new signing Petr Cech, as well as others who had international duty recently and/or obviously just need or want the extra recuperation time.

Jack Wilshere was in attendance, looking happy, healthy and rested, ready to take on the new season. As someone who finished last season strongly, he’s obviously impatient to get started.
