Reports are emerging that a London club has put in a £5m bid for Fenerbahce defensive midfielder Mehmet Topal.

The supposed Arsenal target has allegedly had a bid tabled and reports are suggesting that we’re the first in line for his signature, insinuating that it’s us who’ve put in the offer. It’s unclear where these rumours have originated from but it all sounds very cloak and dagger to me, a bid from a mystery club? Give me a break.

The DM has appeared 123 times for the Turkish club and is said to be on Arsenal radar in order to add some strength to the position. Although we have Francis Coquelin, as well as Mikel Arteta who’s just signed a contract extension, we’ve made it clear with our interest in Morgan Schneiderlin that we’re in the market for a DM.

However, this supposed bid has come out of nowhere it seems. Still, the price is low enough to make is vaguely plausible and we do need a DM.

Will the mystery club be named? Do we even know who he is?
