Mesut Ozil grabbed a hattrick of assists as Germany demolished Gibraltar 7-0 on Saturday.

A result that was far from unexpected, the most unusual thing from the game was the co-commentator on Sky (not sure who he was) who seemed to take it personally when, for the first time in his life, Mesut Ozil decided to shoot on one occasion during the first half rather than pass it to a better-placed teammate.

He simply never shut up about it after the shot and was worse in the second half. As they were showing replays of Ozil’s third assist he managed to mention it not once but twice. He even called him ‘seflish‘.

Those three assists move Mesut even closer to Riquelme’s assist record. The Argentine grabbed 181 assists in 568 appearances. Ozil is just eight short with just 375 appearances to his name. It was the fifth time he has collected a hattrick of assists in a game.

…and some people still think he doesn’t do much.
