Rumours linking Arturo Vidal to Arsenal are going around in circles in what looks set to be one of those unlikely stories that doesn’t go away, despite all the evidence.

Over the weekend someone on Twitter duped fans everyone by saying a reliable journalist had shared information about Vidal heading to Arsenal live on Argentinian television.

But he was teaching the world a lesson.

So there was nothing to it, the Vidal story was a hoax.

Then again…

Well, that particular one was. But there are more Vidal rumours surfacing.

In what is becoming a ridiculous and protracted saga, Cadena COPE are now reporting that the Juventus midfielder is ‘one step’ from joining Arsenal with a deal ‘90% completed’.

The report says a deal would be around the €30M (£21.2M) mark, and that Arsène Wenger has now authorized the transfer.

Rumours are sure to be strengthened by the fact that Vidal is though to be close to Chilean teammate and Arsenal star Alexis Sánchez.

Now I have no idea what exactly that means and, although the Spanish radio station is considered to be reliable, I would take it with a bucketful of salt.

But wait! There’s more! BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that Arsenal have no interest in the Chilean.

The Juventus midfielder has had a tough year after returning early from surgery on his knee to play at the World Cup in Brazil. Juventus won the double and reached the Champions League Final but Vidal didn’t hit the heights of previous campaigns and, though he could play there, isn’t really the defensive midfielder that Arsenal appear to need.
