Press in Portugal are reporting that Sporting Lisbon are keen on landing Joel Campbell.

The Costa Rican is, seemingly, a wanted man – wanted by many, that is, except Arsenal.

Despite signing a new deal before leaving the club on yet another loan, it is a brave person who thinks that Joel has a future at Arsenal and there seems to be no shortage of clubs willing to take him off Arsene Wenger’s hands.

It seems that Sporting’s new manager, former Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus, is leading the club’s charge in search of the player after trying to sign him when he was in charge of the Águias.

While a loan is always an option when it comes to Campbell, something the player himself has said he would be open to as he clings to his Arsenal dream, O Jogo believe that Sporting are only interested in a permanent deal.

There is already said to be an €8.2m offer on the table from David Moyes’ Real Sociedad. Will they match or better it? Will Arsene Wenger see a bidding war open up for Campbell who signed for the Gunners four years ago but has only made three starts (10 appearances in total) for the side?

Time will tell I guess.
