Lukas Podolski has ruled out playing for any team in the Bundesliga unless it’s his former club FC Koln.

Coming on as a second half substitute in Germany’s 7-0 demolition of Gibraltar, the forward was speaking after the game.

With his future still very much up in the air, he was asked about a return to Germany amidst reported interest from Turkey.

“Everyone knows that the FC [Koln] is my club,” Podolski said.

“To play for another club in the Bundesliga, I could not do that to the Cologne fans.”

Under contract with the Arsenal until 2016, he has already been advised to leave the club by Joachim Loew although I don’t think that’s something that needs much urging.

It’s hard to see any future for Poldi in north London and now it’s a case of ‘where he’ll end up’ rather than wondering if he will see out the final year of his deal.

It’s hard to imagine him being happy with sitting on the bench for yet another season unlike some players in the recent past.
