Carl Jenkinson will have the final say about his loan deal to Sunderland after the Black Cats came to an agreement with Arsenal.

With a number of clubs looking to secure the services of the England u21 right-back, Sunderland have stolen a march by agreeing to the £1.5m loan fee that Arsenal are demanding before they release the Corporal.

There will be no option to buy included in any loan deal.

Sunderland require reinforcements in that position with only two full-backs on the books but it will be Jenks that decides if it happens or not.

Arriving at Arsenal from Charlton and spending last season on loan with West Ham, can he be tempted to move north and leave behind his mates? Perhaps. We already know that he wants to continue playing regularly and there is no guarantee that West Ham, who have been put off by the rather large loan fee, will push for a deal, especially not with a new manager at the helm.

Southampton are also reportedly interested as they prepare to lose Nathaniel Clyne who is on Liverpool’s shopping list.

Brendan knows there are other clubs, right?
