Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia but the player is on the verge of signing for Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old impressed last season and it had been speculated that Arsenal were trying to sign the defensive midfielder but it seems as if those reports could well have been wide of the mark as he undergoes a medical with the Italians after signing a contract with them.

I always thought the medical came first, but what do I know?

So where Arsenal actually in for him in the first place?

It’s hard to tell. The press are determined to link Arsenal with just about every defensive midfielder on the planet, something they’ve been doing for a few years, but Arsene Wenger has resisted all calls so far to strengthen in that position with a new player.

Whatever the truth, at least this is one rumour we can now write off completely.

Inter Milan tweeted to say ‘Contracts signed with Monaco for Kondogbia. Tomorrow the Frenchman will be in Italy for a medical.’
