Champions League finalists Juventus has already lost Andrea Pirlo this summer, so why would they be looking to let Arturo Vidal go as well?

At 28 years of age the midfielder probably has a good few years left in Serie A, even if his high energy style won’t quite be the same in the near future.

Reports from Spain earlier this week said that an agreement to sell Vidal had already been reached with an unnamed European club, and reports linking the midfielder to Arsenal have increased over recent days.

The move is highly unlikely, but La Stampa have now suggested that the midfielder could be subject to a bid from Arsenal with a fee of £21M, which would be a reasonable amount but seems terribly unlikely.

According to Corriere dello Sport selling Vidal is possibly seen as a necessity this summer in order to raise funds for a defender. Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandžukić have already joined the Old Lady but the Serie A champions have lost both Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez for nothing – the money for all these signings has to be coming from somewhere.

Non-starter

Italian football expert Adam Digby has already exclusively spoken to Daily Cannon and told us that the Vidal to Arsenal rumour is a non-starter. Given his age, injury issues and skill set it would certainly be an odd move for Arsenal to make.

Vidal may well want to leave, or Juventus may be looking for bidders. Both possibilities explain the alleged interest from Arsenal, which seems to be nothing more than a rumour.
