In a quite frankly shocking turn of events, Al Jazira have pulled out of a deal to sign Gervinho from Roma due to his wage demands.

After we failed to hang onto the shining star that is Gervinho when Roma hungrily snatched him from us, many of us were in mourning. He’d scored 11 goals in 63 appearances and that, my friends, is the type of talent you can’t just replace in the form of a tall Frenchman – oh no!

Gervinho went on to score an astounding 19 goals in 71 appearances for the Serie A side who must’ve been rubbing their hands together when Al Jazira came a-knocking. Fortunately for Roma, Al Jazira weren’t a-knocking for too long. In fact, when they heard the wage demands Gervinho was making, it was more a case of Knock Down Ginger.

According to a senior ‘source’ at the Abu Dhabi-based club, “The deal hit a stumbling block because of the excessive demands on his four-year deal.”

They continued, “He started making obscene demands, so the transfer is off. It is better for us to call this transfer off now, rather than live with a player for a few months who is likely to cause problems because of his wage demands.”

Obscene wage demands? Gervinho? Well, I never!

Roma must be positively rejoicing at the news that they get to keep the magnetic Gervinho!
