Yesterday we reported on the unlikely story that Arsenal wanted to sign Borussia Dortmand’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and sure enough, the club have stated that this will not happen.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, has said that although he expects to sell other players in the coming weeks to due having a jam-packed squad, they’re “not interested in selling Aubameyang”.

The striker was reportedly about the join us for a staggering €40, which in itself seemed unlikely. Add to that the fact that we have many players similar to him and there was no way Dortmund would be allowing him to leave, and we came to the conclusion that the rumour didn’t have a leg to stand long before the statement was made.

The rumour, which appears to have originated in Bild, seems to have come from nothing – like most transfer rumours – and is therefore bound to fizzle out before it’s even got going.
