On Monday, Twitter went into overdrive when the Daily Mail announced that Petr Cech to Arsenal was a done deal but his agency have had to go and throw cold water over the whole affair.
Taking to Twitter themselves, Sports PR Company, who represent the Czech international said:
. @MailSport @LeeClayton_ as we told you, No transfer deal has been done yet for @PetrCech – as soon as any news @PetrCech will confirm.
— Sports PR Company (@SportsPRCompany) June 22, 2015
Although the company are probably just protecting their client and the original tweets were probably founded in truth, this is a prime example of why many won’t get excited about a transfer until Arsenal.com or the player announced it themselves.
In this case, the PR company seems adamant that if anything happens, Cech will be announcing it himself.
