Tomas Rosicky made no secret of the fact that he’d spoken with Petr Cech ahead of his potential move to Arsenal and it turns out that he was one of the main reasons the goalkeeper chose us.

Speaking recently after his move to the Gunners, Cech said, “Yes, we have spoken – obviously we had time together with the national team but at the time I did not know what would happen.”

He continued, “But he seems happy always and he loves playing for Arsenal. He was excited about the idea that this could happen.”

Rosicky is 34-years-old while Cech is 33, and the two have played for Czech Repulic’s national team for 13 years together. Therefore, it’s fair to say they’re on reasonable terms and the opinion of the other obviously matters.

“He told me a lot of good things and he was one of the reasons why I decided to give it a go and meet with Arsenal,” Cech said. “Then the discussions went on and here we are today! I am really happy it happened that way.”

Besides the fact that the Little Mozart was pivotal in our signing of the world class goalkeeper, it’s comforting to hear he’s happy at Arsenal. Recently, after we extended his contract by another year, the midfielder expressed some displeasure, due to his lack of playing time. Hopefully he continues to love the club and fight for a place in the first team.
