A report has emerged from Eye Football linking Leicester City with a move for Arsenal and England u21 right-back Carl Jenkinson.

The defender has been linked with a return to West Ham United, where he impressed last season, but they are reluctant to part with a £2M loan fee that Arsenal are reportedly asking for.

Since then it has been reported that Sunderland were interested in Jenkinson and had even agreed terms with Arsenal, but the player is reluctant to move to the north-east.

Jenkinson has recently impressed at the u21 European Championships, and was one of England’s best players throughout a disappointing campaign, which saw the Three Lions depart at the end of the group stage.

Leicester would be a god move for Jenkinson, guaranteeing regular football. Towards the end of the season Nigel Pearson implemented a back five, which would suit the attacking instincts of Jenkinson.

Back at Arsenal, the right-back would face fierce competition with Héctor Bellerín establishing himself in the team and Mathieu Debuchy set to return. Calum Chambers can also play in that position, though his future is seen more centrally, and a loan is the best idea for Jenkinson ahead of the new season.
