Back from months on the sidelines due to injury, Jack Wilshere said it was great to be back on the pitch at the Emirates.

After sustaining ankle ligament damage in the first North London Derby of the season, Jack Wilshere has had to watch the team growing from afar.

Although the 23-year-old had his first 30 minutes back for us against Hull City last week, he wanted to make it clear how playing in front of your home fans is a completely different experience and how much it meant to him to be back.

“It’s great to be back,” he said. “Especially at the Emirates. I came back last week, played 30 minutes at Hull, but it’s always special to get back in front of your own fans. It felt good tonight.”

The match also just so happened to be his 150th for Arsenal – a huge milestone for such a young player who hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to injuries.

“Yeah it’s good because it’s my first game back from injury at the Emirates. I made my comeback last week at Hull but it’s always special to get in front of your home fans and it felt good tonight.”

Hopefully the midfielder goes from strength-to-strength as he becomes fitter and gets more playing time. Despite the result, he made a positive difference when he came on last night, which was encouraging to see.
