After a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Swansea City, midfielder Jack Wilshere spoke to the media about not switching off at this level and thinking we deserved a point.

Swansea beat us for the second time this season – the only team to do so thus far – and the result came as a shock to many, including the Arsenal team, who dominated throughout.

The Gunners not only prevailed in terms of possession but also had the majority of shots on target.

Wilshere believes it was because we switched off, something you can’t afford to do in the Premier League.

“We dominated the first half,” he said. “But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the result. We created chances and I thought Fabianski was brilliant tonight. We fell asleep for two minutes and at this level you can’t do that.”

The 23-year-old also believed we at least deserved a draw, considering the amount of shots we had, saying, “I think we did [deserve a point]. Maybe our first half performance warranted one as well. Fabianski was good in the first half and only seemed to get better as the game went on. We created enough chances and we should’ve scored one.”

Swansea have become only the second team in the Premier League to beat us at the Emirates this season and, no matter what we feel we may ‘deserve‘ at the end of the match, they’re the ones who’ve left with the three points.
