In one of our most comfortable wins of the season, Arsenal beat Hull City 3-1 at the KC Stadium and the manager was incredibly pleased with the team’s efforts to execute his game plan.

Talking to the media after the match, Arsene Wenger explained how they’d set out knowing the job wouldn’t be an easy one and wouldn’t take their opposition lightly. Just last week Hull beat Liverpool in a result which could have secured them Premier League football for another season.

“Before the game I thought that it would be a very difficult game. We certainly had a few turning points – the fact that we scored first, the fact that our defenders were calm on the ball and that we could always dictate our technical level,” the boss said.

“Never were we under real pressure. We got out of tight situations with good technical skills and that took the pressure off our team, and we always looked like we could create something with the speedy movement of our players.”

Although the victory could’ve been more comfortable after our intensity dropped slightly in the second half, Wenger pointed out how we were both lucky and unlucky in places, so the result was probably a fair one.

“The surprising thing of the night is that we scored the goal that we didn’t necessarily deserve to score and we missed the chances we should have scored.”

Arsenal have now secured top four football was another season and are now ready to take on Manchester United and Manchester City for second place. We currently sit level on points with City with a game in hand.
