After Arsenal earned a point at Old Trafford, Arsene Wenger spoke about the upcoming FA Cup final.

Speaking to the press post-match, the boss made it clear once again that we wouldn’t be underestimating our position.

“It is a performance on the day in a final,” he said. “It is always 50/50 but we want to turn up and give everything to win.”

The Gunners have the opportunity to win their second FA Cup in a row on May 30th against Aston Villa and although on paper we should win, especially considering Villa’s 6-1 thumping against Southampton this weekend, cup finals are a different kettle of fish entirely.

The point gained against Manchester United means we hold third spot and still have a chance at second. We sit five points behind Manchester City in second with a game in hand, so second spot is no longer ours to win. However, with our remaining fixtures being easily winnable, the most we can always hope for a Man City slip up.

A major improvement we’ve seen this season is getting points in matches like this, an aspect of our game that the boss was quick to point out.

“We were slow to start this season but I think we’ve made progress. We want to secure second or third and start on the front foot.”

He added, “It is important for us, compared to last season, to exist in the big games. I think we’ve done that.”
