Although Arsene Wenger was quick to praise Arsenal’s second half comeback against Manchester United, he also highlighted how poor we were in the first half.

When addressing the press after the match, the boss made it clear that the first half performance was a million miles away from the level we should be playing at in these fixtures.

“I believe we lost too many balls and were too stretched in the middle of the park and were not compact enough and have to be more precise with our passes,” he said.

He added, “I think physically Manchester United dropped in the second half and our engine took over.”

Despite fighting back to nab a point in second half, during the first half, the Gunners looked lethargic and as if we were lacking inspiration – which is worrying when we’re playing at Old Trafford.

Man United set themselves up well knowing exactly how we planned to play and completely snuffed us out. Fortunately, as is the norm this season it seems, we found our rhythm in the second half and prevented Man United from moving above us in the table to third.

All we have to do is win our remaining games and third place is ours.
