Monday night was a disappointing evening for Arsenal as they crashed to a 1-0 defeat to Swansea at home.

Bringing their unbeaten run of 10 games to an end despite dominating the game for the full 90 minutes, wayward and tame finishing combined with fierce Swansea defending and a goalkeeping error from David Ospina means that the game on Sunday against United takes on even more importance.

Asked about the game after the final whistle, the manager replied “Lets recover and prepare well for our next game and get firing on all cylinders on Sunday, yes, it’s an important game.”

The pragmatist in me feels like all winning runs come to an end and with Arsenal huffing and puffing a lot lately, perhaps it’s better that it came against Swansea ahead of the game at Old Trafford.

A real six-pointer in the chase for the automatic Champions League qualifying spot, we already know that United will be seeking revenge for their FA Cup exit at Arsenal hands.

If it was going to be a big game before the defeat to Swansea, it’s absolutely massive now.

It’s worth noting, however, that United are two points behind Arsenal who have a game in hand against Sunderland, so defeat would not be fatal as long as we win our final two games, both at home, as Wenger added

“We still have a game in hand. What is crucial is to respond on Sunday and show that it was an accident today. That is the most important thing.”
