You may or may not know (of course you know) that Alexis Sanchez slotted home Arsenal’s 100th goal this season in all competitions.

With this in mind, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and have a look at 10 of the best.

As a general disclaimer, this top 10 is just my opinion and I’m pretty sure a number of you will disagree with me on a few, which is fine. I didn’t want to pick more than one goal from each game and I tried to consider their goals not just on their individual but also how important it was to the team.

I think we can all agree, there have been some beauts this season.

10: Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal 2-0 Borussia Dortmund – 20th November 2014

We were in the group stages of the Champion’s League and already 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Yaya Sanogo in the second minute.

The Chilean received the ball on his left foot from Santi Cazorla. The ball stuck to Alexis’ feet like glue as he dribbled into the left hand side of the area. Just before he reached the box he pulled the trigger with his right foot and curled the ball towards the bottom right hand corner.  The ball bounced underneath the ‘keeper.

The goal rounded off a comfortable win and, although we only needed a point from the match, it meant we progressed to the knockout stage of the Champion’s League.

9: Tomas Rosicky – Bright & Hove Albion 2 – 3 Arsenal – 25th January 2015

The fourth round of the FA Cup and we were struggling against our Championship opposition.

A couple of early goals made it seem as if we would walk away with an emphatic win, but we took our foot off the pedal and ended up conceding two back.

Finally, towards the end of the match, our Little Mozart positioned himself in the right place at the right time.

Olivier Giroud, hovering around the left of the box, passed the ball to Rosicky who was wide open and sat right on the edge of the area in the semi-circle. The 34-year-old then proceeded to volley it into the bottom left corner with an almost nonchalant swing of his left foot.

The goal saw us safely through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

8: Jack Wilshere – Arsenal 2-2 Manchester City – 13th September 2014

The 63rd minute against the reigning Champions and it was still 0-0. The game had been pretty even but there was definite feeling that we could win it and take all three points.

We’d been applying pressure and really getting into the game. We were having a good go and there was an air of excitement around the Emirates.

A serge forward and a pinpoint pass from Aaron Ramsey, and Wilshere was a couple of feet away from the by-line, one-on-one with Joe Hart. It looked as if the midfielder didn’t have enough room to even get a shot away, let alone score, but he didn’t let that get in the way of actually dinking the ball over the ‘keeper at close range and putting us 1-0 ahead.

7: Nacho Monreal – Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal – 9th March 2015

When the majority of Arsenal fans heard we’re drawn Man United away in the sixth round of the FA Cup, most of us let out a collective grown. Our record against them, especially at Old Trafford is far from the best and the thought of getting knocked out of the cup we won last year to them was too much to handle.

However, a moment of brilliance from Nacho Monreal who has been just that – brilliant – for us this season, put us 1-0 ahead and helped see us through to the semi-final at Wembley.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin ran towards to area, skipping past the Man United defense with gusto before passing out to Monreal who was in absolutely acres of space in the box. The Spaniard received the ball on his left foot as calmly as you like before chipping it past David De Gea’s near post.

6: Mesut Ozil – Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Arsenal – 7th February 2015

I know that people are probably going to have a bone to pick with me over this next one since, you know, we lost the game and all, but after much ‘um’ing and ‘ah’ing, I decided the individual goal was just too good not to include.

We are at You Know Where playing You Know Who and neither team had scored yet. The opening 10 minutes had been frenetic and we’d looked nervy but still managed to launch a couple of attacks.

In the 11th minute, Danny Welbeck sped up the right hand side, passing the ball into the box along the floor. Olivier Giroud, who was waiting in the centre, misjudged the ball, causing it to flick out left into the air. When the ball fell, who else but little Mesut Ozil was lying in wait to volley it into top corner from close range.

Reflexes like a cat, that one. A football playing cat.

We went on to win the rest of the game 10-0. The end.

5: Kieran Gibbs – Anderlecht 1 – 2 Arsenal – 22nd October 2014

We were in the earlier stages of the Champion’s League group stages and already 1-0 down away to Anderlecht. The atmosphere was oppressive and the Belgian team were putting up a good fight.

It was the dying minutes and it looked as if we were going home empty-handed.

Until a ray of sunshine in the form of Kieran Gibbs appeared, that is.

Calum Chambers received the ball out wide and delivered a stunning cross towards the left side of box where Gibbs, an unlikely goal-scorer, hovered. The leftback hit the ball sweetly with a simply awesome volley across goal into the bottom right of the net.

Minutes later, in extra time, Lukas Podolski put us 2-1 up to grab the three points from under Anderlecht’s noses.

4: Olivier Giroud – Arsenal 2-0 Middlesbrough – 15th February 2015

The second of two goals for Olivier Giroud this day and although the first was a sublime team goal, the second was just unreal.

The Frenchman lost his marker and received a corner expertly delivered into the box by Alexis. Then, showing awe-inspiring awareness, the striker dinked the ball across his body with his left foot into the net, which was behind him.

The goal happened in a split second and showed how clinical Giroud has become in front of goal this season. It was so instinctive that he didn’t even need to turn his head. Brilliant.

3: Aaron Ramsey – Hull 1 – 3 Arsenal – 4th May 2015

I remember this game as if it was only yesterday…

The game that marked out 100th goal.

Although Alexis’ goals were magnificent, Ramsey’s was something else. A next-level pass up the pitch from Santi Cazorla allowed the ball to land firmly at the Welshman’s feet on the edge of the area and there was no way he was giving it up. He spun expertly on the ball before curling it into the top left corner with his right boot.

The win secured us Champion’s League football next season and has given as a very real possibility of nicking second.

2: Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal 4 – 1 Liverpool – 4th April 2015

An unreal game full of unreal goals, which made it particularly hard to just choose one. What also made it so hard to choose is that each were individually fantastic yet all very similar at the same time.

Hector Bellerin strode into the area, curling the ball to Simon Mignolet’s right side. Mesut Ozil then took a freekick outside the area and did the same thing. Alexis followed suit and finally, so did Giroud in the dying minutes.

However, there was something about Alexis’ which was particularly special to me and it’s probably because I’m getting old and sentimental.

The Chilean has had an amazing first season in the Premier League. Absolutely brilliant. Yet, as new players do, he’s come under fire for being off the boil a little in recent games. The goal was not only expertly curled home after the forward had danced past the Liverpool defense, it meant so much to him and he’d worked so hard for it.

What a player he is.

1: Aaron Ramsey – Galatasaray 1- 4 Arsenal – 9th December 2015

Back to the group stages of the Champion’s League and an absolute worldie from Rambo, which is personally my favourite goal of the season so far.

Lukas Podolski had already scored a stunner, catching the ‘keeper at his near post and stroking the ball in from what seemed like an impossible angle. Ramsey also had a neat little goal himself, passed into the net earlier on.

It started from a corner delivered by Sanogo, which was headed out by Galatasaray. The ball bounced out to Ramsey who must’ve been around 40 metres away from the goal.

The Welshman hit it perfectly on the volley with his left foot and the ball thundered into the top left of the net causing Arsenal fans, the commentators and rest of the players to simultaneously combust.
